I did a call for mommas and their premies this month! I wanted to do a shoot dedicated to a few of these mothers and their little ones to bring awareness to premature births through my photography.
November is Prematurity Awareness Month. Nearly 400,000 babies are born prematurely a year in the United States. Everyday including each in November is a time we can use to reflect on preventing premature births.
After the model call, a few cancellations, and a rescheduled session date I was finally able to make our vision come to life! Lauren, Amanda and Mandi were awesome to work with. I am so happy to have been able to meet them and their little ones, as well as hear their stories!
Lauren and her two girls are just precious! Lauren thanks science for her two wonderful littles after going through IVF treatments to conceive. She was able to carry her older daughter, Hannah, to 35 weeks and her younger daughter, Hailey, to 36. They were each born via emergency C Section but she says she is thankful for her girls and feels lucky to have carried them as far as she did. Just look at those little warriors!
Mandi brought her beautiful twins! Mandi told us that when Morgan's water unexpectedly burst at 28 weeks she was put on bedrest and ended up delivering 5 days later. One memory Mandi shared with me was how she and her husband celebrated their first Father's Day in the hospital with the twins over Outback thanks to her parents! What an honor to meet these tough cookies.
Amanda and Emerie stole my heart! After Amanda was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome, Emerie was born at 29 weeks and 6 days via emergency C Section. Emerie spent her first fifty days in the NICU but her nurses said she was feisty from day 1! When you're that cute you're allowed to have a little spice in my opinion!
"From a tiny spark may burst a mighty flame."
All of these mommas and their premies are so strong! I am proud to have worked with all of them and cannot wait to do this again in the future!
Thanks for reading! Love, Amanda.
