I met Amber and Riley while bowling league at our former local bowling center. I was delighted when Amber reached out to schedule some maternity photos with me.
Amber and I discussed a few different locations I had available as she sent me inspiration photos to work on making her dream photoshoot come to life. I sent her location after location to try to find the perfect fit but none of them felt right for her vision so I started my search! She wanted water, so we landed on a decision to use Roddy Creek in Thurmont, MD. I showed her the photos of the location and I got a "YES OH MY GOD" reaction and I knew we had found the one. I live for reactions like that!
Amber and I discussed dates to shoot that fit with both of our schedules. She was due September 21st so we were looking for a date where she wasn't too far along but far along enough to have the bump! We were both so excited to get together and do this thing! We landed on a safe bet of August 31st, giving 21 days before baby was to arrive, right?
WRONG.
One thing Amber had said to me in the beginning of our discussion was, "With my luck I'll go into labor before we book haha!"
And I don't know if she jinxed us by saying it or little peanut was just that eager to meet the world but Amber gave birth to the most precious babe, Kylee Rose, on August 12th.
As you may have guessed we can't very well do a maternity shoot once a baby has arrived haha! Congrats and quick thinking were in order! "I know!" I thought. I went to Amber to ask "Why not turn our maternity shoot into a newborn shoot?". She was down and we were able to keep our same date in the books without a hitch.
I am not even sure I can be sad about missing the opportunity to photograph Amber's pregnancy though. Because she went early, I got to meet such a beautiful little girl and get some baby snuggles, which, who can be sad about that! Amber and Riley were so easy to work with and Kylee Rose wasn't so bad either haha!
And that's how my Maternity shoot became a newborn shoot ten days after booking.
Thanks for reading! Love, Amanda
