To say this shoot was a wild ride would be an understatement, but we will get into that.

I met Elajsha and Khalil at the local bowling center before it had closed down. They were such a cute couple I offered to do their prom photos when the time came. They were so excited to have this milestone of their life documented!

We all know as fun as prom can be it can get a little hectic. Well let me tell you how this shoot almost went south.

The forecast was calling for rain throughout the week leading up to the session. You can't reschedule prom to get your perfect pictures so we had to think fast when the day of the session came to change locations. Elajsha came up with the idea of a parking garage, which was a stroke of genius to be honest.

The evening of the session, Elajsha's hair and makeup appointment ran a bit too long and she and Khalil ended up being late to our session by no fault of their own. Unfortunately this only left us 25 minutes of shoot time due to the fact that prom no longer admitted students after a certain time. You'd think this was enough but subtract another 10 because I had to learn how to tie a bowtie on YouTube on the fly when Khalils wasn't quite complete, haha! 15 minutes, "ok, can I do this?", I thought.

I don't know, you tell me.

The shoot was crazy, we stormed through different poses to make their session unique so we could get them to prom on time. Although rushed it was definitely a success. So we wrapped it up and I sent them on their way with well wishes.

You'd think that was the end of our story but wait! There's more!

As I am leaving the garage I see Khalil and Elajsha stuck at the payment center to leave the garage with only 10 minutes to spare to get to prom on time! I immediately switched to "Mom" mode and did everything we could to get them out and on the road. As they panicked I told them to call the school and figure out if they'd still be admitted in this unlikely debacle we found ourselves in! Thankfully they made an exception for the two love birds and they were able to carry on their way once we found an attendant to let them free from the confines of the parking garage.

Even through the chaos of this particular session, we managed to get some great shots that the clients LOVED. I can't wait for the opportunity to work with these two again in a more ideal scenario for us all, haha!
